How Lacing Can Address Foot Issues

How Lacing Can Address Foot Issues

Your slip resistant shoes are highly significant in your workplace. While you are running around and performing your daily tasks, it is important to have the correct lacing for your shoes.

There are multiple ways to lace up your shoes, solving several foot problems that you may encounter. Take a look at the lacing techniques below and find one that you can use.

Toe-ProblemsToe Problems

If you have toe problems, it can cause several pains in your work shoes. A simple lacing can alleviate some of that pain.  When you are lacing up your shoes, create a diagonal lace going from the bottom to the top. Lace the eyelets with the rest of the lace. This also creates a cool design.

High Arch

Individuals that have high arches may have a hard time with normal criss-cross lacing.  By straight lacing your shoes, the pressure on the shoe’s tongue is released which allows relief to your foot.

Top Foot PainTop of Foot Pain

Pain on the top of your foot can be very aggravating, especially when you are trying to work. When lacing up your slip resistant shoes, skip an eyelet so you leave space in the lacing. This will cause less pressure on the top of your foot.

Another way to handle foot issues is to purchase an insole for your slip resistant shoes. This will allow your shoes to have a more comfortable insole that molds to your foot.

Factory Workers

Best shoes for Warehouse & Factory Workers

Factory work can be a dangerous job at times! Regarding all of the protection that you are required to wear, your shoes should be one of the most important.

You need to be equipped with the best slip resistant shoes for your factory workplace.

With the 8-10 hour workdays, your shoes can make or break your day.
A couple of key things you will want your factory shoes to have included the following:

Steel toe or composite toe

This will provide protection for your feet if anything were to fall onto your shoe. Composite toe is made out of non-metal materials, which result in a much lighter shoe as compared to a steel toe shoe. Both provide great protection for your feet in the factory workplace.

There are various hazards in every workplace. Slips and falls are one of the leading causes of injuries on the job. Our shoes are proven to prevent slips and fall through our specialized MaxTrax® outsole. Every shoe we sell is rigorously tested through the Brungraber Mark II “hi soil” oily/wet test on red quarry tile to further provide our customers with the best slip resistant shoe in the business.

If you are looking for the perfect shoe for optimal protection in your manufacturing job, we have you covered. Take a look at the shoes below and what they have to offer.

Slip Resistance 101 – Coefficient of Friction

[box type=”shadow”]
cof symbol COEFFICIENT OF FRICTION – A coefficient of friction is a value that shows the relationship between the force of friction between two objects. It is a value that is sometimes used in physics to find an object’s normal force or frictional force when other methods are not available.

[box type=”shadow”]
slipFRICTION AND SLIP RESISTANCE – When you walk, you need to have friction with the surface you are walking on. A coefficient of friction (COF) describes how much force is needed to move an object on a certain surface. A COF of zero means that employees are more likely to fall, while a higher number (like 0.5) means that there’s good traction.

[box type=”shadow”]
GRIPPING TESTS – People rarely fall on clean, dry surfaces. So, slip resistance testing takes place under conditions that generally involve a wet surface. Currently, there are only two testing devices that meet ASTM F-13 standards for “wet testing”: the Brungraber Mark II Test, and the English XL. These tests measure the COF to accurately find an item’s ability to generate friction and reduce slip and falls.

[box type=”shadow”]
MAXTRAX® FAR EXCEEDS THE MINIMUM COF – In our most recent independent Brungrabber Mark II slip resistance testing in greasy, high soil, oily/wet, and wet environments, MaxTrax® proved itself to be a super star of slip resistance. In each test, MaxTrax® far exceeded the COF necessary to take a safe step.

All SR Max® brand shoes are made with the MaxTrax® outsole, and we’ve also partnered with several other brands to make MaxTrax® outsoles available on shoes from Reebok, Skechers, Dansko, and Rockport Works.

[box type=”shadow”]
THE COF TESTS DON’T LIE – Where other outsoles failed on one type of surface or had COF’s near the mark for slipping on others, SR Max® alone surpassed the threshold on all surfaces tested.

[box type=”shadow”]
RAISE YOUR COEFFICIENT OF FRICTION – Back in 2008, we decided to change the game by developing and producing the most slip resistant outsole available. The exclusive pattern we developed gives our outsoles the maximum amount of surface area possible (increasing contact with the floor for better traction). The flexible, soft rubber compound used provides more give upon impact, which allows for an enhanced grip and maintains a major hold with the ground.

[box type=”shadow”]
EMPLOYEE ABSENTEEISM DUE TO FALLS – Workers spend an average of 9 days out of work after an injury due to a fall. And, it’s reported that in nearly one-third of slip, trip, and fall cases, a worker may be off of work more than 21 days.

[box type=”shadow”]frictionFRICTION – Frictional resistance to the relative motion of two objects is measured in proportion to the force which presses the surfaces together as well as the roughness of the surfaces. Since it is the force perpendicular or “normal” to the surfaces which affects the frictional resistance, this force is called the “normal force” and designated by the letter N.

[box type=”shadow”]
friction and slipFRICTION AND SLIP RESISTANCE – The frictional force is also presumed to be proportional to the coefficient of friction. The amount of force required to move an object starting from rest is usually greater than the force required to keep it moving at a constant velocity once it has started.

[box type=”shadow”]
REDUCE YOUR RISK OF SLIPS, TRIPS, AND FALLS – Slip resistant shoes can and do reduce the risk of slip and fall accidents that can lead to workplace absenteeism. While slip resistant shoes won’t solve every problem, they can at least contribute to keeping you and your team safe on the job!
