Ladies aren’t the only ones who care about looking good at work. For guys, the extra confidence from looking sharp on the job improves relations with co-workers and customers alike, and can boost productivity as well. So after giving some advice last time about women’s shoes for summer, it’s time to give the same advice for everyone wanting slip resistant shoes for men out there. Guys have fewer options when it gets hot, so I’ll share some suggestions on work shoes to wear with jeans, khakis and shorts. There’s no reason to not wear a good-looking shoe this summer and still get all the safety you need!
Whether you’re wearing cargo shorts, flat front or even jean shorts, you’ll want to avoid a standard high top. Stick with a simple sneaker to keep the casual look.
You can also look into the New Balance Athletic, a traditional sport sneaker with a slick leather upper and ABZORB heel technology.
Jeans offer a lot of flexibility, even in the heat of summer. Depending on the general feel of your workplace atmosphere, you can look into any of these comfortable low-top work shoes.
The SR Max Seattle is a simple black sneaker that works well for servers, busboys or grocery store clerks. Available in both white and black.
If you work in a kitchen, maybe as a dishwasher or line cook, the SR Max Charlotte offers a smooth slip on style that’s easy to get in and out of quickly and doesn’t trap food.
Finally, a restaurant host or waiter might enjoy the SR Max Edison. This oxford comes in either black or brown, so it works with just about any work uniform.
Khakis tend to be less forgiving towards sneakers, so I’d suggest a comfortable oxford. You’ll still look professional, but your feet will snug and relaxed as if you were wearing a sneaker.
The Rockport Slip Resistant Boat Shoe offers a low-top sporty feel with the appearance of a casual type dress shoe. The square toe and slimming shape are great summer looks as well.
Another good oxford option is the SR Max Burke. This slip resistant, composite toe shoe is similar to the Providence, but with a simpler design. Both brown and black options have an oiled, tumbled leather upper.
